BYOD and the Cloud
Justin Pirie introduced the panel. Justin is an analyst for Paradigm Shift. He discussed cloud email exchange, as well as email security and gave some insight into cloud computing. The panel next changed the topic to using mobile smart phones and how physicians really appreciate using them. They talked about deletion control and how it is a problem. Data loss in Healthcare is a great example. The topic shifted back to securing email communications and BYOD. According to statistics, iOS devices are currently more popular than Android devices.
“Is the glass half full? Or half empty” was a popular phrase.
A major question was how to secure email and reduce risk? Some proposed solution were to enable productivity and reduce risk. With little or no data on a device, encryption can be used to secure data and further evolve the cloud security paradigm.
Final words included: Mobile information management is not mobile data management. It’s time to move from device control to device liberation.
